Florida quarterback Emory Jones was named the SEC co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Tennessee, the conference office announced on Monday.
The redshirt junior completed 21 of 27 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 15 times for 144 yards.
He became the first Gator since Tim Tebow in 2009 to throw for at least 200 yards and rush for at least 100 yards in the same game. Jones and Tebow are also the only Gators to accomplish the feat in the last 25 years.
Jones’ 77.8 completion percentage against the Volunteers tied for the 10th best mark by a Gator with at least 25 pass attempts since 1996.
He established new career highs in completions (21), passing yards (209) and rushing yards (144). He also broke free for a career-long 49-yard run.
His 144 rushing yards were the most by an SEC player last week and the third-most by an FBS quarterback this season.
“When I saw that, the first thing I thought of is my guys up front, the offensive line, because they really made everything happen,” Jones said. “Ethan White, he won co-offensive player of the game for our team. All that happened because of the guys up front, all the skill players outside making plays for me.
“So, I just made sure I thanked them for everything they did and for playing their tail off during the game. Just leading the team to victory, that’s a whole team deal, the offense and defense-wise. We all came together and made it happen.”
