Johnson wants to visit the Florida Gators after Monday’s offer

Monday was a busy day for the Florida Gators coaching staff as they offered several prospects in the 2021 class.

Athlete Caleb Johnson (5-10, 170, Greenville, TX. High) picked up an offer from the Gators after talking to two Florida coaches.

“I actually talked to Coach [Billy] Gonzales first and got to him and talked about what the program had to offer,” Johnson said on the coach who offered him. “Then he handed me over to Coach [Dan] Mullen and we talked about virtual visits and then he offered me.”

Johnson has had a big week as he has picked up five big offers this week but he admits the Florida offer was a big one to him.

“It means a lot to me,” he said on what the offer means to him. “Not only because it’s a Division 1 offer but it’s a Power five offer and that’s a big deal. I was excited.”

Receivers coach Billy Gonzales explained to Johnson on Monday just how he would fit into the program and how he could play multiple sports in Gainesville.

“We mostly just talked about how I would benefit from the program as a whole,” Johnson said on what Gonzales said to him. “He talked about how I could also be a part of a great track program as well. He likes my size, ability to run, ball skills and things like that.”

Head coach Dan Mullen also talked with Johnson about the program and went a little more in-depth with the athlete.

“He told me a little more about the program, asked how things were going and stuff like that,” he said on what Mullen told him. “He told me that he wanted me to be a Gator.”

After Monday’s talk with the Gators, Johnson admits that he now knows more about the program in Gainesville.

“Before talking to them I just knew a little about the football program,” Johnson said on what he knows about Florida. “I now know a lot about what the football program has to offer, how great of a track program they have and that I can also be a part of and even that their ranked number 2 in public education.”

Johnson has a handful of schools that are after him and the Texas native knows who he wants to visit next.

“Pretty much all of the schools that have offered, especially Houston,” he said on schools recruiting you hard. “Some of the schools I want to visit Oklahoma, LSU, Houston, Georgia and Florida for now.”
