Johnson has the Florida Gators “high up there”

The 2020 recruiting class for the Florida Gators has started off pretty good already for the coaching staff and on Saturday they hosted several prospects from that class in the Swamp.

2020 offensive lineman Tate Johnson (6-4, 315, Hogansville, GA. Callaway) was on campus for the second time this fall on Saturday and liked the visit again.

“The visit was great,” Johnson said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I got to experience another awesome game and talk to the coaches who were awesome again.”

Johnson was first on campus for the LSU game and while Saturday’s atmosphere wasn’t as big, the lineman still enjoyed the visit.

“The atmosphere was awesome again,” he said on the atmosphere on Saturday. “It wasn’t as a big of a game as the LSU game but the stadium was still full and loud. The fans always show out.”

While on campus, Johnson spoke to several of Florida’s coaches including head coach Dan Mullen.

“I talked to Coach [John] Hevesy and Coach [Sal] Sunseri,” Johnson said of the coaches he talked to on Saturday. “I also talked to Coach Mullen a little bit, it was just a casual conversation with him.”

Offensive line coach John Hevesy spent a lot of time with Johnson on Saturday talking to him about how he would fit into the program in Gainesville.

“Just about how the season is going and the inside scoop,” he said of his talks with Hevesy. “We also talked about my season and he said that I would come into Florida and work in the interior offensive line.”

Johnson has been recruited by Hevesy for months now as the 2020 lineman is a big fan of the way Hevesy coaches and recruits.

“He’s straight up with you,” Johnson said of his opinion of Hevesy. “He’ll tell you exactly what he thinks which is a good thing. You don’t want to think you’re doing something right and you’re really doing it wrong.”

After visiting Gainesville for the second time this fall, Johnson has a good feel for how things are at Florida and he has high interest in the Gators.

“They’re high up there right now,” he said of Florida. “They’re definitely a school that I’m going to seriously consider. Everything about Florida has been pretty great from the coaches to the atmosphere to the campus. It has all been nice.”
