JMU TE Lacota Dippre commits to Florida

James Madison University tight end Lacota Dippre committed to Florida via social media on Sunday afternoon.

An Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt tight end, Dippre hauled in 17 receptions for 192 yards and three touchdowns in 2025. The 6’3, 252 pound tight end also recorded 49 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on four carries including a two yard touchdown run vs Oregon in the College Football Playoffs.

Dippre received a run blocking grade of 70.2, which ranked 23rd among FBS tight ends in 2025, according to Pro Football Focus. Dippre’s zone blocking grade of 76.5 ranked third on the Dukes and led the tight end unit.

Prior to his time in Virginia, Dippre played two seasons with the Charlotte 49ers (2023-24). Playing along the defensive line in 2024, Dippre recorded 25 tackles (15 solo) to go with 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and one pass breakup across 12 games including two starts.

After starting his collegiate career as a tight end, Dippre moved from tight end to defensive end during spring 2024.

Dippre played both tight end and defensive end at Lakeland High. The Scott Township, Pa., native was a two-time District 2 Player of the Year. He finished his high school career with 113 receptions for 1,494 receiving yards and added 149 tackles, 49 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, and three interceptions on defense.

Florida lost starting tight end Hayden Hansen to the portal as well as Cameron Kossmann, so tight end was a position of need for Jon Sumrall and staff. Dippre joins a tight end room that consists of Tony Livingston, Amir Jackson, Micah Jones, and freshman Heze Kent.

New Mexico tight end transfer Dorian Thomas is set to visit Florida on Monday. The Gators could be looking to add another tight end.
