On Saturday, several of the top targets for the Florida Gators were on campus for junior day including one of the top receivers in the country.
Receiver Anthony Jennings (6-0, 165, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Dillard) was on campus and felt the love from the staff.
“It was a great day,” Jennings said of being on campus on Saturday. “You know being back in the swamp, the coaches have been making me a heavy priority. So it was a good feeling, just feeling the love from the Gators.”
While on campus, the coaching staff made sure to let Jennings know that they want him in Gainesville.
“They were just saying that I’m a big priority in this class,” he said on the message from the staff. “They want me to take over the 2027 wide receiver class so that was the main message today. They just wanted to show me love and get me back on campus.”
Jennings and receivers coach Marcus Davis have had a relationship for over a year now and it’s one that is both on and off the field.
“It’s a great connection,” Jennings said of his relationship with Marcus Davis. “Just on a personal level, outside of football too. He’s a good guy just in and out of football.”
The receiver was last in Gainesville last summer and he says Saturday was an even better visit for him.
“It was great, better than last time,” he said on this visit compared to his last one to UF. “Meeting the coaching staff, that was a good feeling just being back here, just a great feeling for real, I’m in love with this place right here.”
While on campus, Jennings had the chance to talk with everyone involved with the football program including head coach Jon Sumrall.
“It was more advanced, I got more meetings with like the general manager, the head coach Jon Sumrall, the receivers coach too,” Jennings said on what he got to do. “Just different meetings, meeting new coaches, new coaching styles. Coach Sumrall is a great guy too. Him and Marcus Davis kind of remind me of each other. He’s a great guy, pretty cool guy.”
After the visit, Jennings says the Florida Gators are at the top of list but Miami and others are also involved in his recruitment.
“Florida is definitely at the top of the list right now,” he said. “There are a couple other schools in there, I’m just narrowing everything down these next couple of months. I just feel in love like the first time I came here. You know the new coaching staff, they were prioritizing me, so I’m just loving who loves me.”
