Jean says the Florida Gators are his leader following his official visit

The Florida Gators hosted three official visitors on campus this weekend including one of their top receiver targets.

Receiver Andy Jean (6-1, 180, Miami, FL. Northwestern) was on campus and enjoyed getting to know the coaches on a personal level.

“The highlights were talking to the coaches,” Jean said of his visit to Florida. “Being around and spending time with the coaches and knowing who they’re, getting to know their family, showing me the family they got. They’re trying to make great things for Florida.”

Head coach Billy Napier spent a lot of time with Jean and made it known that the Gators want him.

“I was hanging out with Coach Napier, the head coach,” he said on who he spent the most time with. “Every time we went out to eat, I was sitting with him and that showed me that I’m a priority to him. He showed me that he really wants me at his school and that I can make an impact for him.”

Receivers coach Keary Colbert also spent time with Jean and showed him how his game fits what the Gators are looking for in a receiver.

“Coach KC too,” Jean said on spending time with Colbert. “I sat down with him, and he showed me things he does and how my gameplay fits into the offense and how I would be a big impact to the school for sure. The same thing they do on offense is the same thing I do at my school so if I do come to Florida, I will already be ready.”

Jean says his relationship with the staff is strong and he talks to Napier daily sometimes.

“The relationship has grown,” he said on his relationship with the staff and Napier. “He has time to talk to me, I call him on his off day with a question and he answers it for me. Building that bond is great now for sure.”

While on campus, Jean was hosted by another Miami player who explained to him why the Gators are a good fit.

“Randy Russell,” Jean said on his player host. “He has been here a long time, he’s a great dude and he’s from where I’m from, Miami. He was telling me that this is a place that can really develop you as a receiver and as a person.”

Following the official visit, Jean says Florida now stands at the top in his recruitment for a few reasons.

“It has Florida at the top for sure,” he said on where Florida stands in his recruitment now. “They’re my leader right now for sure. The energy, the coaching, Florida is a place that’s building, I want to go to a school that’s building not just have it all. I want to become a legend.”

Three other SEC schools are also in the mix for Jean and he has three official visits remaining.

“Texas A&M, Georgia, Alabama,” Jean said on other schools involved. “I’m going to take my other official visits in the fall. The University of Miami for sure and I’m not sure on the other ones.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Jean says he will be at the cook-out on July 29th and then plans to be back in town for the LSU game.
