The Florida Gators picked up their 22nd commitment on Thursday night just days after the Gators picked up commitments from Ethan and Jordan Pouncey.
On Wednesday, defensive tackle Jalen Lee (6-3, 294, Watson, LA. Live Oak) committed to Florida over Alabama and LSU.
“You can’t stop what’s destined, committed,” Lee tweeted on Thursday.
Lee who has been one of the Gators top targets on the defensive line recently decomitted from LSU and quickly scheduled an official visit to Florida.
Defensive line coach David Turner has explained to Lee that he wants the defensive tackle to be able to move around on the line.
“He said I would learn the 3-4 scheme and the 4-3 scheme,” Lee said of the message from Turner. “He said I would play the 4I and the three tech and he said he will move me around because I’m athletic enough to do it all.”
Lee last visited Gainesville for the Gators spring game and during that visit he liked the atmosphere and the way Turner coached up the defensive line.
“I loved the intensity of it and the defense looked pretty good,” he said on his impressions of the spring game. “To say it was a spring game, the crowd still went crazy and the defensive line looked pretty good. They all can rotate and play.”
With Lee’s commitment the Gators now have three defensive tackles committed to the 2020 class as Lee joins Gervon Dexter and Lamar Goods at defensive tackle.
The defensive tackle now plans to visit Florida next weekend for an official visit and Lee plans to sign early with the Gators the following Wednesday.
