Jackson excited to be offered by the Florida Gators

On Friday, the Florida Gators expanded their recruiting board as they offered a new quarterback in the 2022 class.

2022 quarterback Tayvan Jackson (6-5, 195, Greenwood, IN. Center Grove) picked up the offer after he talked to the coaching staff.

“Coach [Dan] Mullen, the head coach, “Jackson said on which coach from Florida offered him. “He said we want to offer you a scholarship because we want you to be the next quarterback at Florida.”

Jackson admits that he had an idea an offer may come from Florida and Dan Mullen after he talked to quarterbacks coach Garrick McGee.

“Yeah, I kind of was,” Jackson said on if he was expecting the offer. “I was talking to the quarterback coach and he was talking highly of me and he said he was going to show my film to Coach Mullen and hopefully give me some good news that night.”

Mullen explained to Jackson why Florida wanted to offer him and that he’s high on the Gators recruiting board.

“He was just saying that he liked what he saw on film and he watched the video I posted on Twitter and he liked that,” he said in the message from Mullen. “He said it was unbelievable. He sees me in his offense and he wants me to be a Gator.”

McGee has been recruiting Jackson the last few weeks and the quarterback likes what he has heard from the Gators quarterbacks’ coach so far.

“He’s just doing his recruiting and telling me he really wants me down there,” Jackson said on the talks with McGee. “He wants me to come visit and be the next quarterback. He speaks highly of me and he’s a good person to talk to.”

Jackson hasn’t visited Gainesville yet but he does know a good bit about the Gators’ offense under Dan Mullen.

“I watched a lot of Kyle Trask last year and they have a great offense,” he said on what he knows about Florida. “They use their quarterback a lot and he was almost a Heisman trophy winner so that’s good to know and I can’t wait to watch them this year.”

Next up for Jackson and the Gators will be a chance for the entire coaching staff to talk and get to know the quarterback as well as Jackson will get to see more of the Gainesville campus.

“I’m doing a virtual visit with them this week,” Jackson said.

Jackson says that he hasn’t begun to narrow things down yet but he says several schools are recruiting him hard.

“Florida State, Oregon, Missouri, Michigan, Washington State, West Virginia, and some more schools,” he said on the schools recruiting him hard. “I haven’t narrowed down my schools yet.”
