Jackson commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators picked up a commitment on Saturday afternoon after they defeated the Idaho Vandals in the Swamp.

2021 offensive lineman George Jackson (6-4, 315, Stone Mountain, GA. Stephenson) committed to the Gators while on campus visiting Florida.

“It was a great atmosphere, great fan base,” Jackson said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I just finished talking with Coach Hevesy [earlier Saturday] and committed to the University of Florida.”

Jackson almost committed the last time he was in Gainesville but he says several reasons factored into him committing to Florida.

“I’ve been to a few places and this is the closest place that I feel the comfortable with,” he said on why he committed to Florida. “I’ve been to a bunch of SEC and ACC schools and this is the school that I feel the most comfortable with.”

The 2021 offensive lineman says several things make him comfortable in Gainesville including offensive line coach John Hevesy.

“Talking to the coaches, I’ve never really built a good relationship with coaches except with Coach Hevesy,” Jackson said on why he’s comfortable with Florida. “I really like him the best because he broke down what he wants me to do and ask me what I wanted to do.”

Jackson visited Florida for the Missouri game a few weeks ago and got the chance to talk with Hevesy

“He said that he liked my size and versatility,” Jackson said of his talks with Hevesy. “He likes that I play different spots for my team at guard and both tackle spots.”

When Jackson committed to Florida, he had his parents with him and they’re happy about the decision.

“They’re happy with it,” he said on how his family feels about his Florida’s commitment. “They’re proud and that’s pretty much it.”

The 2021 offensive lineman is the second commit in the 2021 class as Jackson joins his teammate Kamar Wilcoxson as commits in the class.
