“I love Florida” says Brini: Florida Gators recruiting

Ever since he arrived in Gainesville defensive backs coach Torrian Gray has been a big hit for the Florida Gators recruiting efforts with defensive backs around the country.

Last week was his first time on the road wearing the Orange and Blue, and Gray visited cornerback Latavious Brini (6-2, 184, Hialeah Gardens, FL Mater Academy) on Friday.

“Coach Gray came by my school and then came to practice on Friday, it was great,” Brini said. “I had to call him after practice to talk to him and he said that he can’t wait to see me back in Gainesville. He said that I looked pretty good during practice.”

Brini has been one of Gray’s top targets since he visited earlier this spring and the Gator coach expressed his interest in the cornerback again.

“He said that I’m a priority for the Gators this year,” he said of Gray’s message. “He was saying that they would love to have me up there and that I’m needed. He said that with some guys leaving early that I would maybe have a chance to play early as freshman.”

Over the last three months Gray and Brini have communicated a lot and that has developed into a good relationship, according to the cornerback.

“Me and Coach Gray have a great relationship, I love his personality,” Brini said. “He and I have kind of have same the personality and he’s great at what he does. We get along great.”

Brini has been in Gainesville twice this year and head coach Jim McElwain has impressed him a lot during those visits.

“I love Florida,” Brini said when asked about his interest in Florida. “Florida is just a great place to play football, the town is all about football and that’s great. They always have a good atmosphere at their games.”

Despite having good visits to Florida, the South Florida, the cornerback doesn’t have a leader, but he does have a timeline for a decision.

“No sir, I don’t have any leaders at this time,” he said when asked if anyone lead. “I’m going to cut to down my list of schools during the football season and I’m planning to take some trips this summer including to Florida and take officials during the season. I want to make a decision after the football season is over with.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Brini is one of the top prospects on the Florida Gators recruiting board at defensive back and so far Florida looks to be in good shape. Miami looks to be the biggest competition at this time.
