Howard likes Corey Raymond’s history with defensive backs

The Florida Gators coaching staff hosted several prospects on campus on Tuesday including two guys who were on campus for multiple days visiting with the staff and watching practice.

Michigan State defensive back commit Jamari Howard (6-2, 175, Hialeah, FL. High) was on campus on Monday and Tuesday and enjoyed his visit to Gainesville.

“It was good,” Howard said of his visit to Florida on Monday and Tuesday. “I watched them practice, I toured the school and the facility. I liked how everything looked nice and clean and I like how they produce you on and off the field. Everything is going good.”

On Tuesday, Howard had the chance to watch the Gators in action during spring practice and he liked the atmosphere around practice.

“Practice was pretty solid, to be honest,” he said. “I’m feeling the energy, the intensity is big, everything is fast, and the defensive backs are looking good.”

Defensive backs coach Corey Raymond spent a lot of time with Howard and explained how he could help the defensive back get to the next level.

“He told me to check out everything he does and to shadow him,” Howard said on the message from Raymond. “He really says that he would love to have me play for him and he would love to produce me at the outside corner. I believe him when he says he can get me to the league.”

Head coach Billy Napier also spent a lot of time with Howard and explained to him that he’s a top target for the Gators.

“We talked a lot and he said he loved me since day one,” he said on the message from Napier. “He said I’m a cool guy and he liked my film and that he needs me and wants me to come to Florida.”

After visiting Gainesville, Howard says the Gators are a school on his mind right now despite his commitment to the Spartans.

“I have interest in Florida, they’re going to be in my top eight,” Howard said of his interest in Florida. “They have my attention, but I’m still locked in with Michigan State, but I like how Florida produces guys and gets them to the league. I like Coach Raymond and his history.”
