Horne says he “loves this place” following his visit to Gainesville

On Thursday, the Florida Gators coaching staff held their annual spring game and hosted several top prospects on unofficial visits to watch the game.

Receiver Trey Horne (6-3, 180, Rabun Gap, GA. High) was on campus and he liked the attention he received while on campus.

“I liked it a lot,” Horne said of his visit to Florida on Thursday night. “Everybody here has shown great hospitality, and everyone treats me great here. I love it, I definitely need to come back this summer.”

Horne visited Gainesville earlier this spring, but Thursday was the first time for him to see the Gators in action in the Swamp.

“I came to watch the spring practice last time, so it was good to see the atmosphere this time,” he said. “I’ve never been inside the stadium, so this was great to see.”

Thursday was also the first time for Horne to meet new receivers coach Billy Gonzales and the first meeting was a success.

“I talked to Coach [Billy Gonzales] G a lot and met him,” Horne said on the coaches he got to talk on Thursday. “It was great, I like him, and I like his philosophy a lot. I will definitely have to keep building my relationship with him and with Florida.”

Gonzales and Horne are still building their relationship but on Thursday the receiver got a chance to see Gonzales’ resume.

“He talked about the past guys he’s coached, and he has been here three times so he’s definitely here for a good reason,” he said on his first meeting with Gonzales. “His resume is crazy, Percy Harvin, the list goes on.”

Both Billy Napier and Gonzales explained to Horne just what they like about his game and how he could fit into Florida’s offense.

“He said he likes how my offensive coordinator and head coach gets the ball to me wherever and he thinks I would be a great fit,” Horne said on how Gonzales sees him fitting into the offense. “Catching the ball out of the screen game, down the field or whatever. Coach Napier also said he likes how I attack the ball down the field or in the backfield.”

Next up for Horne will be a few more unofficial visits but he’s already starting to think about official visits.

“It will probably be June, but I haven’t planned anything yet,” he said on official visits. “I’ve talked to Florida about setting one up, it will probably be in June.”

Horne hasn’t narrowed his list of schools down yet but he does know that Florida is a school he likes a lot.

“Florida is definitely one of my top schools, I love this place,” Horne said on his interest in Florida. “Since the first time I came here, I’ve loved this place. I might drop a top five soon.”
