Hixon breaks down Sunday’s Florida Gators offer

On Sunday, the Florida Gators coaching staff sent out a few new offers to underclassmen prospects from out of state.

One of those guys was 2022 defensive tackle Felix Hixon (6-4, 285, Jackson, GA. High) who talked to the Gators on Sunday.

“Coach [David] Turner offered me on the phone,” Hixon said of the coach who offered him from Florida. “He was just saying he liked my film and how I play so he wanted to offer me.”

Hixon has 13 offers already but he says he was shocked to pick up an offer from the Gators on Sunday.

“This offer means a lot, because this is a big time school” he said on what the offer means to him. “When I received the offer, I was very excited and shocked to get it.”

On Sunday, defensive line coach David Turner spent most of the time talking with Hixon about off the field stuff but the defensive lineman says they will talk football next time.

“He really didn’t get into much detail about things but we will talk again,” Hixon said on if Turner talked to him about where he would play. “We talk more football next time, this time was more a short conversation because he didn’t want to hold me long on Sunday.”

Sunday wasn’t the first time that Hixon has talked to Florida as the Gators have been in touch with the 2022 prospect since they were allowed to call underclassmen.

“I talk to them often, I’ve been talking to them since September 1st,” he said of his talks with Florida. “I talk to both Coach [David] Cooper and Coach Turner, they text me to check on me and to see how I am doing. It’s a pretty good relationship but we’re still trying to learn more about each other and build a stronger relationship.”

Hixon says he wants to visit Gainesville but before he does that he already knows a few things about Florida’s program.

“I really like Florida and would like to learn more about them,” Hixon said. “I know there’s a lot of history that’s been made from Florida and I like the colors and I like how aggressive and strong their defense is.”
