Hill received his first offer and it was from the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators handed out several new offers last week to underclassmen prospects including a few from the state of Florida.

2021 defensive back Demetrius Hill (6-2, 182, Miami, FL. Springs) was one of those who picked up an offer from safeties coach Ron English last week.

“Coach English offered me after watching my film,” Hill said of which coach offered him from Florida. “He said I was a good size defensive back and he likes that I’m very athletic.”

This offer was a special one to Hill as the Gators were his first scholarship offer and one he will always remember.

“The offer means the world to me,” he said on what the offer means to him. “I was told that your first offer would be special and it was special. I shed a tear. All my hard work is finally paying off.”

The Gators reached out to Hill’s coach and then got in touch with Hill as they explained why Florida was offering him a scholarship.

“I was shocked actually, my 7 on 7 coach text me and said Florida wanted to talk to me,” Hill said of reaction to Florida. “I connected and Coach English said he just watched my film and he was very impressed and I had an offer from the University of Florida. I had no idea it was coming. I was in total shock.”

Hill knows a lot about the Gators program and he likes the defensive back tradition that Florida has.

“I like the fact that they play in the SEC,” he said on what he likes about Florida. “They put a lot of defensive backs in the league and the Swamp looks exciting to play in. I also know that Gator Nation is everywhere.”

Despite not visiting Gainesville this year, Hill has watched the Gators closely and he likes the defense so far this year.

“Those defensive backs are balling,” Hill said on his thoughts on the defense this year. “Marco Wilson is having a great year coming off the injury. The defense as a whole is playing awesome.”

Next up for Hill will be a trip to Gainesville as the defensive back wants to see what Florida has to offer.

“I plan on visiting Florida next weekend for the Vandy game,” he said on plans to visit Florida. “I want to see everything about Florida.”
