Farmer excited to pick up an offer from the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators handed out a few new offers over the weekend after several guys worked out for the coaching staff at Friday Night Lights.

Offensive lineman Jalen Farmer (6-5, 325, Covington, GA. Eastside) was one of those guys who picked up an offer on Sunday.

“Coach [John] Hevesy gave me the offer,” Farmer said on the coach who offered him on Sunday. “I’m just really excited. It means everything to me, and I was and still am very excited.”

After Harvey worked out for Hevesy on Friday, the offensive line coach explained what the Gators liked about his game.

“Coach Hevesy said he loved my attitude and how aggressive of a player I was,” he said what Hevesy told him. “I worked out for him twice and at Friday Night Lights.”

Offensive line coach John Hevesy worked Farmer out multiple times this summer and Harvey likes the veteran coach’s style.

“It was great, I learned a lot from him,” Farmer said of working out for Hevesy. “He’s great at what he does and very ambitious and he knows what he’s talking about.”

Hevesy didn’t get into exactly where Harvey would play at on the line, but the lineman said the assistant coach made sure he knew he was wanted in Gainesville.

“We didn’t get into specifics but I’m willing to play anywhere he wants me at,” he said on the message from Hevesy. “He just said he wants me to be a Gator.”

Following the offer, Harvey says the Gators are high in his recruitment but a lot of new schools have offered lately so the lineman isn’t ready to narrow things down just yet.

“UF is definitely up there,” Farmer said on where Florida stands in his recruitment. “I don’t have a leader as my recruitment is really just starting to pick up.”
