Harris like the physical practice the Florida Gators’ had on Saturday

It was another busy day in Gainesville on Saturday as several prospects were once again in town to watch the Florida Gators go through spring practice.

Defensive end Gabriel Harris (6-4, 237, Valdosta, GA. High) was on campus on Saturday and liked the practice.

“I’m not going to lie, I liked the practice and everything,” Harris said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I didn’t really get the chance to talk to anybody too much, so I don’t really have too much input, but I liked how everything went and how physical practice was.”

Harris is a defensive end/rush outside linebacker, so he watched his position and the defense in general on Saturday.

“I watched the outside linebackers,” he said on who he watched during practice. “I watched the defensive tackles too; they have some pretty big tackles.”

Outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson was the coach that Harris watched the most on Saturday and he liked how the assistant coach coached.

“He coaches pretty hard,” Harris said of Peterson’s coaching style. “He wants everything to be in line, I watched him, coach. I watched Brenton Cox too, he’s one of my favorite guys. I watch him a lot.”

Harris hasn’t had much communication with the new Florida Gators’ coaching staff until on Friday when he spoke to two coaches.

“I just started talking to them yesterday [Friday], I was communicating with the inside linebackers coach [Jay] Bateman and Peterson,” he said on his talks with Florida.

The Valdosta native thinks he could fit into Florida’s defense after watching them on Saturday.

“We run the same defense that colleges run at Valdosta,” he said on how he thinks he would fit into Florida’s defense. “I fit perfectly in the SEC playing that defense.”

If the Gators start recruiting Harris’ hard, the defensive end would have interest as he likes several things about Florida.

“I like the weather,” Harris said on what he likes about Florida. “I like the colors too, I like how the new coaching staff coaches, they coach pretty hard, and everything is physical.”
