Hardaway shocked to receive a Florida Gators offer

The Florida Gators have been offering several underclassmen prospects during the dead period as they look to expand their recruiting board.

2022 defensive back JQ Hardaway (6-2, 170, Columbus, GA. Hardaway) was one of those who picked an offer from the Gators.

“Coach [Keiwan Ratliff] offered me,” Hardaway said. “He said he believed that I’m a future first round draft pick.”

Hardaway wasn’t talking to the Gators much so the news caught him off guard two weeks ago.

“I was extremely shocked,” he said on the offer. “The offer was something I used to dream about as a kid.”

Recruiting assistant Keiwan Ratliff talked to Hardaway about how he would fit into the Gators defense.

“He said he likes my physicality,” Hardaway said on Ratliff’s message to him. “He said with my skill set and my body frame I can fit anywhere in the secondary for them.”

Hardaway hasn’t visited Gainesville yet but he does know several things about the Gators defense and he watched a former defensive back growing up.

“I like the fan atmosphere and their history of great defensive back that came from there,” he said on what he likes about Florida. “I use to watch Vernon Hargreaves growing up.”

Now that Hardaway has an offer from the Gators, the defensive back says he wants to visit Gainesville and he know what he wants to see out of the visit.

“I’m looking forward to visiting,” Hardaway said on if he plans to visit Florida. “I’m looking to visit campus and learn more about the program. My interest level is very high in them.”
