North Carolina was once a huge recruiting hotbed for the Florida Gators and the coaching staff is hoping to go back into the state and add guys in the 2022 class.
Last week, the Gators offered defensive end Eli Hall (6-4, 250, Shelby, NC. Crest) after he spoke to two coaches.
“Coach [David] Turner, the defensive line coach,” Hall said on the coach who offered him last week. “He said we’d love to get some of you North Carolina boys down here and that he loved my film.”
Hall knows the history the Gators have had with past Crest football players and that made the offer a big one to him.
“It means a lot, it was a blessing,” he said on the offer. “I was very happy because of their past players such as Jonathan Bullard and Brandon Spikes went there and they also went to the same high school as me.”
When the Gators talked to Hall last week it was more about getting to know each other but they did explain where he could play at.
“We haven’t talked in depth about football yet,” Hall said of his conversations with Turner. “But how Coach [Kelvin] Bolden [recruiting assistant] was talking, I’ll probably be an edge rusher because I play very hard and get after people with passion.”
Hall is in the process of setting up a visit to Gainesville and before the visit he already has a lot of interest in the Gators for a few reasons.
“It’s high, just keeping everyone in touch and taking the process slow,” he said on his interest in Florida. “I like everything about them, the tradition, the way they play but I’m doing to do my research on them.”
INSIDERS NOTE: Hall says he will be committing on his mother’s birthday on October 5th and he wants to take some visits including one to Florida.
