Graves picks up a Florida Gators’ offer he’s been looking for

On Tuesday, the Florida Gators handed out two new offers to 2022 prospects in the state of Florida.

Cornerback Chris Graves (6-1, 175, Fort Myers, FL. Bishop Verot) was one of those guys to pick up an offer after he talked to the Gators’ defensive coordinator.

“Coach [Todd] Grantham did,” Graves said on who offered him on Tuesday. “He said he likes my film, size, speed, length, and my ability to press and be a lockdown defender.”

Graves already has several big offers but he still excited and he has been waiting for the Gators to offer him.

“I was shocked, my coach knew but he didn’t tell me [that he knew],” he said in his reaction to the offer. “I’ve been looking forward to them offering me, kind of bummed how they were so late.”

Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham explained to Graves on Tuesday how he would fit into Florida’s defense and why his game fits the defense.

“He likes me at outside corner, but anywhere in the secondary really,” Graves said on where Grantham wants him to play. “My length and my ability to press receivers at the line will fit into his defense.”

Despite the late offer, Graves says he still has a lot of interest in the Gators for one reason in particular.

“I like them a lot especially because it’s an in-state school, we will see how everything goes this season,” he said on his interest in Florida. “They have a history of producing good defensive backs.”

Next up for Graves will be three officials to schools recruiting the corner hard but the Fort Myers defender also wants to visit Gainesville.

“LSU, South Carolina, Miami, Oklahoma, FSU, and Tennessee,” Graves said on schools recruiting him hard. “My officials are to Miami on the [June] 3rd, LSU the 18th [June], and South Carolina the 25th [June]. I’m going to visit Florida in June but I don’t know if it’s going to be an official or unofficial.”
