Gowdy hears from the Florida Gators several times a week

The Florida Gators have had success recruiting the receiver position ever since Dan Mullen and his coaching staff arrived in Gainesville.

This year Florida currently has two receivers committed for the 2020 class and are hard after receiver Bryce Gowdy (6-2, 180, Deerfield Beach, FL. High) who hears from the Gators several times a week.

“They’ve been recruiting me pretty hard,” Gowdy said of Florida recruiting him. “Coach [Billy] Gonzales hits me up at least 4-5 times out of the week.”

When Gowdy and Gonzales talk, the Gators receivers coach explains what Florida has to offer the receiver both on and off the field.

“Basically how the program has been running,” he said on the message from Gonzales. “He also talks about like what my future will look if I go to Florida.”

Gonzales plans to explain to Gowdy just how the Gators will use him on offense when the receiver visits Gainesville but the Deerfield prospect already has an idea of how he will fit into what Florida runs on offense.

“He said we were actually going to talk about that when I get up there he said,” Gowdy said on how Gonzales sees him fitting into the offense. “I think I fit it because you know he has explosive guys all over the field and he utilizes big receivers like Trevon Grimes so I think I’d fit it well.”

The 2020 receiver has been watching Florida closely since Dan Mullen arrived in town and he likes what Mullen is doing what the Gators program.

“He has changed the culture there,” he said on what he thinks about the program under Mullen. “Florida is a top 10 team in the nation and that’s big and he always has a good offense.”

Gowdy has several big teams recruiting him hard but he says he has a lot of interest in the Gators despite never visiting Gainesville.

“From 1-10, I would say a six because I haven’t visited yet,” Gowdy said on his interest in Florida heading into his visit. “They are high up there because their degree at Florida is well respected and they’re also one of the great teams in the nation.”

The Gators will get Gowdy on campus in just two weeks for the next junior day and the receiver knows what he’s looking forward to seeing while on campus.

“I’m visiting on March 16th,” he said on when he plans to visit Florida. “I’m looking to see how their program is built and just the culture of it all.”
