Goolsby “100 percent” solid to UF: Florida Gators recruiting

Last weekend wasn’t the biggest Florida Gators recruiting visitors list of the year but it was full of a lot of underclassmen and commits in the Swamp.

2019 receiver Maurice Goolsby (6-5, 196, Dunnellon, FL. High) was one of those guys in the stands on Saturday and he knows what Florida needs to do in order to win games.

“I mean, we just gotta start faster,” Goolsby said of Florida on Saturday. “That’s all it comes down to. Starting faster, executing quicker, connecting on deep balls. Just stuff like that.”

Despite the loss, Goolsby was able to witness a good crowd and he likes the energy and the feeling he gets in the Swamp.

“Yeah, they were. I love it,” he said of Florida’s atmosphere on Saturday. “I mean, it seems like the stadium gets louder every time I come to it. It’s the same thing, I feel at home, just love it every time I come up here.”

After the game was over with, the Gators coaching staff spoke with Goolsby and had a message for him.

“Just to keep doing what I’m doing,” Goolsby said of Florida’s message to him. “The relationships have gotten stronger. We started talking more often, and just checking on each other. Stuff like that.”

Two of the Gators coaches have been keeping in close contact with Goolsby lately and receivers coach Kerry Dixon has a message for him.

“Coach [Greg] Nord and Coach [Kerry] Dixon,” he said on the coaches he talks to. “He [Dixon[ says to work on the little things. Believe it or not, the little things are going to be bigger in the long run so just work on the little things. Technique and stuff like that.”

Despite the season not going as planned for the Gators, Goolsby says his commitment is still solid to Florida.

“100 percent,” Goolsby said on his commitment status to Florida. “I think I’m going to visit Clemson and the Florida State game.”

However, two other schools are still keeping in contact with him and trying to get him on campus.

“Clemson, but that’s about it. Clemson and Auburn, “he said on other schools trying to flip him and what Clemson tells him. “They just want to get me on campus as soon as possible. Just to check it out and see how I feel about it.”

Even if Goolsby visits the other schools he says that they don’t have what Florida has.

“I like them, but they’re not Florida,” Goolsby said on what he likes about the other schools.

INSIDERS TAKE: Goolsby is very solid to Florida but is going to take visits to make sure he mad the right decision. The Gators like Goolsby as a receiver/tight end, someone that can stretch the field and create mismatches.
