Gavin Hill is helping the Gators recruit defensive lineman

Gavin Hill, the Gators first defensive line commit of the 2023 class, made his appearance on campus this evening at Friday Night Lights. The four-star Buchholz product stands at 6-3, 255 pounds.

Although Hill did not work out tonight, he was spotted hanging around plenty of Gator commits and recruits. Hill says the main guys he’s recruiting are defensive lineman Will Norman, Kelby Collins, and Kendall Jackson.

“It’s a good school, good program, and it’s like a brotherhood here,” Hill said on the message he’s giving these recruits.

Hill enjoyed observing some of the workouts and drills tonight.

“It was real good, I got to watch the other D lineman work out, receivers, DB’s, it was a lot of fun,” Hill said.

Hill had positive comments on defensive line coach Sean Spencer and the rest of the Gators staff.

“Coach Spence, obviously a great coach, and the rest of coaching behind him or in front of him, very good coaches,” Hill said.

Spencer believes that Hill can play all over the defensive line. Hill tells Gator Country that he’s told he can play 3-Tech, 4i, and 5-Tech.

Hill did some catching up with Florida’s leader of the class, QB commit Marcus Stokes. Hill and Stokes faced each other in the playoffs last season.

“It was real cool, even though we play each other in the playoffs, it was cool getting to know him,” Hill said.

Hill is looking forward to playing Stokes again next season. Hill assured us that there was no trash talk tonight between the two. “We’re going to save that for later,” Hill said.

Hill is aiming to be back in Gainesville September 3rd for the Utah game. Hill is unsure when his official visit will be, but it will be sometime in the fall. Hill also plans to enroll early, claiming he’s working towards that right now.
