Gators schedule home-and-home with Colorado

The University of Florida announced a home-and-home football series with the University of Colorado for the 2028 and 2029 football seasons. The Gators will play host to the Buffaloes in Gainesville on September 9, 2028 and travel to Boulder to return the favor on September 8, 2029.

The trip to Boulder will be Florida’s first true non-conference away game out of the state of Florida (not including neutral site matchups) since they opened the 1991 season at Syracuse.

The 2028 matchup will be the firs time the two schools have ever played on the football field.

Colorado last played in the Sunshine state in 2009 when they traveled to Tallahassee, a 39-21 loss to the Seminoles.

Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin hinted at announcing “a couple” of non-conference home-and-home series on Twitter this week. Texas is rumored to be a potential home-and-home opponent for a future Florida schedule.

A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
