Gators move up in Coaches Poll, stay put in AP

The first polls of the 2021 season were released on Tuesday afternoon. The Gators moved up in one of them and stayed put in the other.

UF is ranked ninth in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll after being ranked 11th in the preseason poll. The Gators jumped ahead of North Carolina and Iowa State. The Tar Heels were upset by Virginia Tech in week one, while the Cyclones were unimpressive in a 16-10 defeat of Northern Iowa.

The Gators remain the No. 13 team in the Associated Press Poll. They jumped ahead of North Carolina and Wisconsin but were passed by Iowa and Penn State.

Alabama is still No. 1 in both polls after its dominant victory over Miami. UCLA and Virginia Tech both skyrocketed into the rankings after being unranked in the preseason. The Bruins defeated LSU last week.

LSU dropped all the way out of the rankings after being a top-16 team in both preseason polls. North Carolina also plummeted in both polls.
