FSU Mailbag

You’ve got questions and we’ve got answers. Like the postal service we deliver in snow, sleet and rain and we don’t work on holidays! That’s why the mailbag comes to you a couple of days early.

With Florida’s final game of the season just a few days away we took some time to answer some of the questions you guys posed to us. Let’s get started.

Amsterdamgator2: What is the line?

A: FSU -26.5. The O/U is 44.

KDM: How is Chaz Green progressing?

Chaz is doing well. He’s been out of  the sling that he was in for most of the season and is beginning to rehab his shoulder. He should be ready to go for spring practice.

VoteGator: What linebackers are left?

Alex Anzalone and Mike Taylor have both been ruled out for the game this weekend. Daniel McMillian’s thumb is good enough to have him play special teams but apparently keeps him from playing linebacker so the depth chart has Nerion Ball, Darrin Kitchens, Ronald Powell and Jarrad Davis on it currently.

OvilleGator: Who will score more points this week; FSU baseball or FSU football?

A: I would hope that FSU basketball scores more points this weekend.

Gatorbd: Is Will Muschamp’s job really safe no matter how lopsided the score may be this weekend?

A: I believe so. I’ve been told by sources that Jeremy Foley truly believes that Will Muschamp is the right man for the job and that Foley is firmly in Muschamp’s corner. However, there are some boosters that don’t agree with that line of thinking.

At the end of the day, I think Will Muschamp’s job is safe.

Gatordon: How does this team possibly pick itself off the ground with everything that has happened, a depleted roster and find the will and the spirit to compete with a powerhouse team?

A: It’s tough. Not only have the losses piled up but seeing so many of your teammates go down with injuries is emotionally draining as well.

This is Florida’s bowl game. It’s a rivalry game and emotions run high when Florida and Florida State play. A lot of these kids grew up with each other and don’t want to lose this game.

There’s also a senior class that has been through so much in the past four seasons. The seniors are supremely motivated to go out on a good note and not on a seven game losing streak.

Thank you all for sending in your questions every week, I hope my answers were satisfactory. We’ll continue to do mailbags (although less frequently) throughout the offseason. I hope you all have a safe holiday, enjoy the food, football and most importantly the time with your families.

Nick de la Torre
A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
