Friday Night Frenzy recap week one: Florida Gators recruiting

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects all across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators recruiting commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks games.

This year we are going to also to name a player of the week from the commits games.

This week was full of preseason games for most of these prospects while the rest of the prospects will start up their season soon.

High School Recap

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dionte Marks- Marks had a big night with over 100 yards receiving including two long touchdown catches.

Linebacker Mohamoud Diabate (6-3, 215, Auburn, AL. High)

Result: Auburn defeated Wilcox Central 42-0 on Friday night.

Game Stats: N/A

Notes: Auburn’s defense held Wilcox Central to just 43 yards on the night.

 

Linebacker Tyron Hopper (6-2, 205, Roswell, GA. High)

Result: Roswell defeated Campbell 42-14 to open the season with a win.

Game Stats: Hopper’s stats were unavailable.

Notes: Roswell forced several turnovers in the game.

 

Defensive tackle Jaelin Humphries (6-3, 303, Lawrenceville, GA. Mountain View)

Result: Mountain View defeated Langston Hughes 27-7 on Friday night.

Notes: After an opening game loss, the defense showed up on Friday night.

Notes: Henrico opens the season this coming Friday night.

Notes: Warren Easton opens the season this coming Thursday.

 

Receiver Dionte Marks (5-11, 178, Deland, FL. High)

Result: Deland defeated Mainland 30-20 to open the season.

Game Stats: Marks had two touchdowns, he scored from 45-yards out and on a 79-yard touchdown pass.

Notes: It was a big day for the Deland offense that scored on three big plays including a big night for running back Demaurez Bellamy.

 

Linebacker Jesiah Pierre (6-2, 220, Mount Dora, FL. Christian Academy)

 

Result: Mount Dora Christian Academy lost to Seffner Christian 25-20 on Friday night.

Notes: The defense struggled early on but got on track in the second half.

 

Offensive lineman Riley Simonds (6-3, 324, Buford, GA. High)

Result: Buford defeated Jonesboro 58-7 on Friday night.

Notes: Simonds on the offensive line had a big night to allow the running game to get going.

 

Athlete Ja’Markis Weston (6-3, 205, Clewiston, FL. High)

Result: Clewiston lost to Fort Myers 43-0 on Friday night.

Notes Fort Myers dominated the Clewiston offense all night long. 

 

Offensive lineman Ethan White (6-5, 315, Clearwater, FL. High)

Result: Clearwater defeated Dunedin 47-0 on Friday night.

Notes: White and the Clearwater offense was rolling from start to finish.

Notes: Whittemore took snaps at quarterback, receiver, punter and safety.

Result: Carol City defeated American Heritage 34-16 on Friday night.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism.
