Friday Night Frenzy recap week 4: Florida Gators

It’s that time of the year again when the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like the past years, Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators recruiting commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past week’s games.

This year we are going to also to name a player of the week from the commits’ games.

This week was the start of the season for some prospects while others are still waiting to start the season.

 

Week 4 recap

Player of the week: Creed Whittemore- Whittemore was 17-28 passing for 269 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Whittemore also added 7 carries for 137 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground.

2023 commits

Safety Jordan Castell (6-2, 195, Winter Garden, FL. West Orange)

Result: West Orange lost to Wekiva 25-13 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Castell had five tackles, two tackles for loss and a PBU in the loss on Friday.

Notes: Castell is 2-2 on the year.

 

Defensive lineman Kelby Collins (6-5, 280, Gardendale, AL. High)

Result: Gardendale defeated Parker 27-14 on Friday.

Game Stats: Collins had nine tackles, two sacks, and four tackles for a loss in the win.

Notes: Gardendale is 3-1 on the year.

 

 Defensive back Sharif Denson (5-11, 170, Jacksonville, FL. Bartram Trail)

Result: Bartram Trail defeated Lincoln 24-7 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Denson had an interception in the win.

Notes: Bartram Trail moves to 4-0 on the year.

 

Athlete Aaron Gates (6-0, 180, Sharspsburg, GA. Trinity Christian)

Result: Trinity Christian defeated Riverdale 20-15 on Friday.

Game Stats: Gates did not play on Friday as he deals with an injury.

Notes: Trinity Christian is 2-2 on the year.

Result: IMG had a bye week this week.

Result: Buchholz defeated Creekside 48-41 on Friday.

Defensive back Ja’Keem Jackson (6-1, 180, Kissimmee, FL. Osceola)

Result: Osceola lost to Lakeland 25-22 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Jackson had two receiving touchdowns on Friday.

Notes: Osceola fell to 1-2 on the year.

 

Defensive lineman Kamran James (6-6, 265, Orlando, FL. Olympia)

Result: Olympia lost to Ocoee 35-6 on Friday night.

Game Stats: James had three tackles in the loss.

Result: Northwestern defeated Edison 42-22 on Friday.

Result: Boone defeated Freedom 48-0 on Friday night.

Notes: Mizell did not play on Friday as he recovers from a knee injury he suffered in week one.

 

Defensive lineman Isaiah Nixon (6-4, 215, St. Petersburg, FL. Lakewood)

Result: Lakewood defeated Pinellas Park 9-9 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Nixon had five tackles and two hurries in the loss.

Notes: Lakewood is 2-2 on the year.

 

Defensive lineman Will Norman (6-5, 290, Camden, NJ. Woodrow Wilson)

Result: Woodrow Wilson lost to Pennsauken 34-6 on Friday.

Notes: Norman transferred back home to New Jersey after playing at IMG last year.

 

Receiver Tyree Patterson (6-2, 175, Eustis, FL. High)

Result: Eustis lost to South Sumter 40-26 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Patterson had 12 catches for 167 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Linebacker Jaden Robinson (6-1, 222, Lake City, FL. Columbia)

Result: Columbia defeated Madison County 21-0 on Friday.

Game Stats: Robinson had 12 tackles and five tackles for a loss.

Notes: Columbia is now 1-2 on the year.

 

Defensive lineman TJ Searcy (6-5, 250, Thomaston, GA. Upson-Lee)

Result: Upson-Lee defeated Haralson County 29-15 on Friday.

Game Stats: Searcy had three tackles in the win.

Notes: Upson-Lee moves to 1-4 on the year.

 

Quarterback Marcus Stokes (62, 190, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Nease)

Result: Nease lost to Fletcher 21-13 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Stokes was 15-20 passing for 181 yards and one touchdown. Stokes also added 47 yards rushing in the loss.

Notes: Nease fell to 0-4 on the year.

 

Running back Treyaun Webb (6-1, 205, Jacksonville, FL. Trinity Christian)

Result: Trinity Christian defeated Bolles 27-14 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Webb had 18 carries for 52 yards rushing and a touchdown in the win.

Notes: Trinity Christian moved to 4-0 on the year.

Linebacker Myles Graham (6-1, 212, Atlanta, GA. Woodward Academy)

Result: Woodward Academy defeated Morrow 52-0 on Friday.

Game Stats: Graham had a receiving touchdown in the win and also forced a fumble.

Notes: Woodward Academy is 3-1 on the year.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit.
