Friday Night Frenzy Recap week 12: Florida Gators recruiting

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects all across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators recruiting commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks games.

This year we are going to also to name a player of the week from the commits games.

High School Recap

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Trent Whittemore- Whittemore had two touchdown catches in his team’s loss on Friday night.

Linebacker Diwun Black (6-3, 216, Kissimmee, FL. Osceola)

Result: Osceola lost to Manatee 28-17 on Friday night.

Notes: Osceola have been eliminated from the playoffs.

 

Linebacker Mohamoud Diabate (6-3, 215, Auburn, AL. High)

Result: Auburn defeated Fairhope 34-23 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Diabate had three tackles in the win.

Notes: Auburn moves into round 2 of the playoffs.

 

Defensive back Jaydon Hill (6-0, 174, Madison, AL. Bob Jones)

Result: Bob Jones lost to Hoover 26-18 on Friday night.

Notes: Hill is out for the year due to an ACL injury.

 

Linebacker Tyron Hopper (6-2, 205, Roswell, GA. High)

Result: Roswell lost to Tift County 42-7 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Hopper had two tackles in the loss.

Result: Henrico defeated Varina 28-13 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Jones threw two touchdowns and accounted for 240 yards of offense.

Andrew Spivey
Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit. He began his career as an intern for Rivals.com, covering University of Florida football recruiting. After interning with Rivals for six months, he joined the Gator Country family as a recruiting analyst.
