Friday Night Frenzy recap for week 5: Florida Gators recruiting

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects all across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators recruiting commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks games.

This year we are going to also to name a player of the week from the commits games.

This week was full of preseason games for most of these prospects while the rest of the prospects will start up their season soon.

High School Recap

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dionte Marks-Marks had a passing touchdown and a two receiving touchdowns last week.

Linebacker Mohamoud Diabate (6-3, 215, Auburn, AL. High)

Result: Auburn defeated Jeff Davis 51-23 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Diabate had four tackles in the win.

Notes: Auburn cruised to a big win on Friday.

 

Defensive back Jaydon Hill (6-0, 174, Madison, AL. Bob Jones)

Result: Bob Jones defeated Gadsden City 12-7 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Hill had four tackles in the loss on Friday.

Notes: Hill got snaps on both offense and defense.

 

Linebacker Tyron Hopper (6-2, 205, Roswell, GA. High)

Result: Roswell lost to Wheeler 37-36 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Hopper had 6 tackles in the win.

Notes: Roswell is 4-1 to start the year.

 

Defensive tackle Jaelin Humphries (6-3, 303, Lawrenceville, GA. Mountain View)

Result: Mountain View defeated Peachtree Ridge 26-3 on Friday.

Game Stats: Humphries played in its first game of the season on Friday.

Notes: Mountain View is 4-1 on the season.

 

Quarterback Jalon Jones (6-3, 205, Richmond, VA. Henrico)

Result: Henrico defeated Patrick Henry 44-6 on Friday.

Game Stats: Jones was 5-10 for 101 yards passing and had 5 carries for 180 yards and another touchdown.

Notes: Jones didn’t play past the third quarter because of the score.

Result: Easton had a bye week this week.

Receiver Dionte Marks (5-11, 178, Deland, FL. High)

Result: Deland defeated Pine Ridge 56-13 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Marks threw a touchdown pass and also caught 4 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns.

Andrew Spivey
Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit.
