Friday Night Frenzy Preview Week 4: Florida Gators

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects across the country are starting the high school football season.

Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks’ games.

This year we are going to also highlight the key players to watch in the game that aren’t Florida Gators commits but rather targets or just big names in the game.

Week 4 preview

2023 commits

Safety Jordan Castell (6-2, 195, Winter Garden, FL. West Orange)

Matchup: West Orange (2-1) plays host to Wekiva on Friday night.

Yearly Stats: Castell has one receiving touchdown on the year and 10 tackles, one tackle for a loss and he’s also added an interception on defense.

Notes: 

 

Defensive lineman Kelby Collins (6-5, 280, Gardendale, AL. High)

Matchup: Gardendale (2-1) travels to take on Parker on Saturday.

Yearly Stats: Collins has 17 tackles, five tackles for a loss and a sack on the year

 Defensive back Sharif Denson (5-11, 170, Jacksonville, FL. Bartram Trail)

Matchup: Bartram Trail (3-0) travels to take on Lincoln on Thursday night.

Yearly Stats: Denson has four tackles and one tackle for a loss on the year.

Athlete Aaron Gates (6-0, 180, Sharspsburg, GA. Trinity Christian)

Matchup: Trinity Christian (1-2) plays host to Riverdale on Friday.

Yearly Stats: Gates has 191 yards receiving and a touchdown on offense and on defense he has accounted for five tackles.

Notes: Gates was injured earlier in the year.

Matchup: IMG (2-1) has a bye week this week.

Yearly Stats: Nixon has 14 tackles, four tackles for a loss, two sacks and 8 quarterback hurries. Nixon has a fumble recovery, caused a fumble, and blocked punt.

Matchup: Upson-Lee (0-4) plays host to Haralson County on Friday night.

Yearly Stats: Searcy has thrown a touchdown and has 10 carries for 54 yards and touchdowns rushing. On defense he has four tackles.

Notes: Upson-Lee looks to pick up their first win this week.

 

Quarterback Marcus Stokes (62, 190, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Nease)

Matchup: Nease (0-3) plays host to Fletcher on Friday.

Yearly Stats: Stokes is 39-90 passing for 483 yards and two touchdowns on the year. Stokes has added 133 yards rushing and four more touchdowns on the ground this year.

Yearly Stats: Graham had 51 carries for 251 yards and four touchdowns in week one. Graham also has 15 tackles and one tackle for a loss on defense.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit. He began his career as an intern for Rivals.com, covering University of Florida football recruiting.
