Friday Night Frenzy Preview week 3: Florida Gators recruiting

It’s that time of the year again when the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects across the country are starting the high school football season.

Like the past years, Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past week’s games.

This year we are going to also highlight the key players to watch in the game that aren’t Florida Gators commits but rather targets or just big names in the game.

Week 3 preview

2023 commits

Safety Jordan Castell (6-2, 195, Winter Garden, FL. West Orange)

Matchup: West Orange (2-0) plays host to Edgewater on Friday night.

Yearly Stats: Castell has one receiving touchdown on the year and six tackles, one tackle for a loss and he’s also added an interception on defense.

Defensive lineman Kelby Collins (6-5, 280, Gardendale, AL. High)

Matchup: Gardendale (2-1) has a bye week this week.

Yearly Stats: Collins has 17 tackles, five tackles for a loss, and a sack on the year

Andrew Spivey
Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit. He began his career as an intern for Rivals.com, covering University of Florida football recruiting. After interning with Rivals for six months, he joined the Gator Country family as a recruiting analyst.
