Freeling interested in the Florida Gators following last week’s offer

Over the last few weeks, the Florida Gators have sent out several new offers to out-of-state 2023 prospects in hopes of getting them down to Gainesville on a visit.

Offensive lineman Monroe Freeling (6-7, 283, Mount Pleasant, SC. Oceanside Collegiate Academy) picked up an offer last week after he talked to offensive coordinator Rob Sale.

“Coach Sale did,” Freeling said of who offered him last week. “He said he likes how I played with my mobility, quick feet, and length.”

Freeling has 25 offers already, but he admits that picking up an offer from Florida and head coach Billy Napier caught his attention.

“Florida is a big-time SEC school,” he said on what the offer means to him. “I feel Coach Napier will have them turned around quickly. I’m excited about the opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting down there in a few weeks.”

While on the phone with Freeling, Sale explained to the lineman what the Gators like about him and his game.

“He didn’t really say anything specific about the position to the offense,” Freeling said on the message from Sale. “He likes my overall athleticism, which makes me versatile.”

Sale also explained to Freeling how the Gators coaching staff will coach the offensive line and what he has accomplished in the past.

“He did express that they split the coaching up in that they have two offensive line coaches,” he said on what he knows about Sale and the coaching staff. “I think it’s unique. I liked what he had to say, and I’m interested in learning more about the program.”

Freeling hasn’t narrowed his list of schools down, but he says Florida is a school he wants to learn more about from a football and academic side of things.

“Florida was a school I had on my list prior to the offer so I’m definitely interested in seeing more,” Freeling said on his interest in Florida. “I like that they’re building an experienced coaching staff who knows what it takes to develop players. Florida is also a highly ranked academic school which is something I value.”

This spring is setting up to be a busy one for Freeling as several big-time programs will get the lineman on campus including the Gators.

“I will in March or April for sure,” he said on when he plans to visit Florida. “I have visits planned to Clemson, Miami, Stanford, Oregon, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Ohio State in the spring/early summer.”
