Fredrick Johnson makes a dozen for the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators landed their second commitment of the day when offensive lineman Fredrick Johnson (6-8, 285, West Palm Beach, FL Royal Palm Beach) committed to Florida over Miami.

Johnson joined offensive lineman Richerd Desir-Jones as prospects who committed to Florida on Saturday and Johnson is now commitment number 12 for the Florida Gators in the class of 2015.

For awhile it looked as if Johnson was going to commit to hometown Miami, but the Gators were his first big offer and offensive line coach Mike Summers and Drew Hughes continued to recruit him during the coaching change.

Johnson, who is a raw offensive lineman right now, has a lot of the same tools that current Florida Gators lineman Roderick Johnson has and the two are very close friends.

Heading into this weekend Jim McElwain’s goal was to add offensive linemen to the class and so far he has. Now Florida has five linemen committed  as Johnson and Jones join Brandon Sandifer, Tyler Jordan and Mike Horton as offensive linemen in the class of 2015.

Five may seem like a lot but the Gators are hoping to add more linemen to the class and still have some big fish out there like five star Martez Ivey and Miami offensive line commit Tyree St. Louis, who is on campus at Florida this weekend.

GatorCountry.com will have much more on Johnson’s commitment to Florida as Johnson is scheduled to leave Florida and his official visit tomorrow around noon and GC plans to talk in-depth with Johnson about his commitment.
