Ben Frazier has the Florida Gators standing out

The Florida Gators Recruiting board is a little small at the defensive tackle position. One new name that is starting to gain steam as of late has actually had a scholarship off for some time and been talked about on our messages boards frequently.

That defensive tackle is Ben Frazier (6-2, 320, Buford, GA High), who picked up an offer earlier this year and he says that Florida Gators defensive line coach Chris Rumph is recruiting him hard as of late.

“Florida has been after me for a while now, and they sent me my official offer in the mail a few weeks ago,” Frazier said. “Coach Rumph is the coach from Florida that is recruiting me the hardest and I also talk to Coach [Geoff] Collins from Florida too.”

Frazier has yet to visit the Florida Gators but that could change soon as Rumph is pushing to get him on campus.

“He’s basically just saying that he wants me to get down there for a visit to he can see me and my family,” he said of Rumph’s message to him. “Pretty much he just wants me to see the atmosphere and the college itself and he wants me to meet all of the coaches. He tells me that he wants me to see how it feels for myself.”

One thing that Rumph is telling Frazier is that the Gators are in need of big defensive tackles and that Florida will be able to move the Georgia defensive tackle around.

“Coach Rumph keeps telling me that he needs big defensive tackles in this class because he needs players,” Frazier said. “He sees me as a versatile player that can play the three technique and nose tackle in their defense. I can adapt to either one, so whichever fits me best for the scheme of the defense.”

A lot of prospects have talked about Rumph’s personality and that’s something that Frazier enjoys about the Florida Gators’ coach.

“I know Coach Rumph is a high energy guy and he brings a lot of energy to the defensive line,” he said. “He has a lot of swag and we are building a pretty good relationship with each other. I definitely want to get down there and check them out and see how things play out.”

Despite not being a named talked about a lot, Frazier has a lot of offers and he says that one school is standing out to him right now.

“I’m still pretty much open but I would say that Florida is definitely at the top,” Frazier said. “LSU, Miami, NC State and Tennessee are all recruiting me really hard right now. Right now I’m trying to get my officials planned out and I hope to have them planned out next. I have Florida marked down for an official already though.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Frazier said he would like to make a decision in October but he isn’t rushing into anything. Right now Florida is the team to beat but Miami and Tennessee are coming on strong. Florida just needs to get Frazier on campus.
