Floyd was shocked to receive an offer from Dan Mullen himself

Last week was a busy week for the Florida Gators coaching staff as they sent out over a dozen offers to 2022 prospects.

2022 defensive back Emory Floyd (6-2, 164, Powder Springs, GA. Hillgrove) was one of those to pick up an offer from the Gators.

“Coach Dan Mullen offered me,” Floyd said on who offered him last week. “He said he likes the way I’m very physical and love to come down and hit and how I use my speed and how I’m aggressive when I see the ball.”

Floyd has a lot of big offers already but he admits that picking up a Florida offer was big to him and he was shocked to hear the news from Dan Mullen himself.

“It means a lot, I grew up a Florida fan,” he said on what the offer means to him. “I would get up early in the morning and set an alarm just to watch them play and my reaction to the offer was crazy. I woke up and I was home doing school and all of a sudden I got a text from Dan Mullen, I kid you not it didn’t seem real. I had to look up Dan Mullen on the Internet to make sure I wasn’t tripping.”

Mullen explained to Floyd last week just how the Gators could use him if he picks Florida for college.

“I think they may like me at both corner and safety,” Floyd said. “I’m very fast and can cover slot receivers or wherever they want me at, probably even offense. Coach Mullen said he loved my film and he thinks I can be something special if I just work hard and stay humble.”

Floyd has yet to visit Gainesville yet but he does know about the Gators tradition with defensive backs.

“I know a lot of defensive backs that played there,” he said on what he knows about Florida. “I look up to CJ Henderson and Trey Dean and I love the way they play with swagger and they’re also physically fast defensive backs.”

After picking up an offer from the Gators, Floyd has the Gators high on his list but an arch-rival is ahead of Florida currently.

“Florida is most definitely top five but Georgia is really on top right now,” Floyd said. “Auburn, Florida State, and Indiana are recruiting me hard too and I would like to visit, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida State, and Auburn.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Floyd says he will make a decision on May 7th.
