Florida State commit has the Florida Gators up there

On Wednesday, the Florida Gators played host to one unofficial visitor as the dead period closes in for recruiting.

Florida State defensive end commit Quashon Fuller (6-3, 277, Lehigh Acres, FL. Lehigh) was on campus and got to speak to a few coaches.

“The visit was good,” Fuller said of his visit to Florida on Wednesday. “I got to see everything I wanted to see. I got to see more of the campus and talk to the coaches. We talked to Coach O [Otis Yelverton], Coach [Dan] Mullen and Coach [Todd] Grantham.”

Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham spoke with Fuller about what he could do for the Gators if he chooses Florida.

“He was just saying how I can help them win a national championship and make greatness,” he said of what Grantham told him. “He said he would like the opportunity to coach me.”

Grantham also explained to Fuller exactly how the Gators would use the defensive end in the Florida scheme.

“He sees me playing defensive end,” Fuller said. “I’ll be at defensive end with my hand in the dirt but standing up from time to time to. I like what he was talking about.”

Head coach Dan Mullen wasn’t on campus on Wednesday but Fuller got the chance to speak with Mullen over the phone.

“Coach Mullen was just saying he was excited to have me there,” he said of Mullen’s message to him. “Even though he was out and not on campus because he had to go do something that he was happy that I was there. He wanted me to enjoy myself.”

This is the second time that Fuller has been in Gainesville and he’s growing to like the Florida coaching staff.

“I like Coach Mullen and all of the coaches,” Fuller said of Mullen. “I think he’s going to get Florida back on top.”

Despite his commitment to Florida State, Fuller says he has a interest in the Gators for several reasons.

“It’s up there,” he said of where his interest level is in Florida. “It’s the coaches, the atmosphere and the fans. Really the area to.”

The Gators may get a chance to host Fuller on campus again in the next month as the defensive end is planning official visits.

“I’m going to try and make it to Friday Night Lights,” Fuller said on when he plans to return to Florida. “I’m going to take one or two official visits in the fall.”
