Florida Gators volleyball travels to take on FSU on Wednesday

Special report on the Florida Gators volleyball team:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The 14th-ranked Florida volleyball team heads across the state to face Florida State in the latest installment of the series on Wednesday night.

 

First serve is slated for 6 p.m. on the ACC Network Extra, with Shawn Davison and Dr. Cecile Reynaud on the call. The match can also be heard on the airways of ESPN 98.1 FM/850 AM with Tom Collett and Josh Crow.

 

The Gators dropped their latest content to then-No. 17 Baylor on Saturday, while Florida State topped FGCU in straight-sets in its last match.

 

Florida holds the 43-20 series advantage over Florida State, including a 15-10 record in Tallahassee, Fla.

 

Donuts for Bri

  • At the event, Florida State will be honoring the life and legacy of Brianna Barry, who served as a middle blocker for the team from 2006-09
    • After graduating from Florida State, Barry helped out at numerous Florida summer camps under Mary Wise
    • Her jersey will be retired prior to the match and that will be topped off by a “donut toast” as she was known for always trying to find a local doughnut shop wherever she traveled around the world

Fan Information

  • Fan capacity for the Florida State 2021 season will be reduced to 915
  • Mask wearing is expected by all fans at Tully Gym
  • Spectator seating will include both the north and east side bleachers
  • Fans should enter the facility through the main lobby of Tully Gym
  • A clear bag policy will also be in effect

Last Time Against Florida State

  • The last time the Gators and Seminoles faced off, it was a 3-0 sweep for Florida in Gainesville (25-21, 27-25, 25-14)
  • As a squad, the Gators hit .322 on the night, racking up 52 kills, while limiting FSU to a .150 hitting percentage. Florida’s offensive attack was led by Thayer Hall, who registered 15 kills in the match
  • Former Gator Paige Hammons and Lauren Dooley pitched in 10 and nine kills, respectively to secure the victory
