Florida Gators recruiting visitors list preview: January 28th weekend

The Florida Gators coaching staff will host official visitors for the last weekend of the 2022 recruiting cycle this weekend and it’s a loaded weekend.

Joining the six official visitors on campus this weekend will be four underclassmen prospects on unofficial visits.

GatorCountry brings you a look at the visitors list for this weekend.

Offensive side of the ball well represented

Three of the biggest visitors this weekend will be on the offensive side of the ball as Napier looks to close the class out with some weapons at the skill position.

Representing the offensive line this weekend will be Matthew McCoy who has grown close to Darnell Stapleton and has always been high on the Gators. McCoy recently visited UCF and Miami but wanted to give the Gators the last chance for a visit.

Receiver DJ Allen is also very high on Florida and likes receivers coach Keary Colbert a lot heading into the visit. Allen doesn’t reveal much but most believe this is a Florida/TCU battle. Allen is a gifted receiver that is wanted in Gainesville.

Tight end Danny Lewis decommitted from Cincinnati earlier this month and since then has received a lot of interest from Alabama, LSU, and Florida. Lewis took a mid-week visit to LSU this week and took an official visit to Alabama last weekend. Coach Peagler has done a great job of recruiting Lewis and will get the last chance with him, but Alabama and LSU seem to have the momentum.

Athlete KD Hutchinson will come in for an official visit after Florida visited him this past week. Hutchinson is a slot receiver who left the Vanderbilt class but doesn’t have a Florida offer yet

Defensive linemen to visit

Former Auburn defensive line commit Caden Story has been a top target for the Gators this month and on Wednesday, Billy Napier, Sean Spencer, and Patrick Toney visited him. Story is leaning towards Clemson after they hired Nick Eason away from Auburn to coach the defensive line. Story does have a good bit of interest in Florida, but this will be his first trip to Gainesville.

A late addition to the list is edge rusher Jack Pyburn out of Bolles who was set to commit between Auburn and Miami before Florida made  a late run at him. Pyburn’s parents went to Florida so the Gators have an in with the family because of that

2023 prospects to visit

The Gators just like they have the last two weekends will host several top 2023 prospects on campus.

2023 defensive back Tony Mitchell is one of the top guys in the class for next year and has always been high on Florida and will be in town on Saturday.

2023 receiver Bryson Rodgers was re-offered by Florida this weekend when Keary Colbert visited him, and he will be back on campus on Saturday.

2023 offensive lineman Bryce Lovett will also be in town on Saturday as he looks for an offer from the coaching staff.

2023 athlete commit Aaron Gates will get his first chance to meet the new coaching staff this weekend when he visits Gainesville. Gates committed to Florida last fall.
