Florida Gators recruiting reaction to the win over Utah

It was a record setting crowd for an opening game in the Swamp on Saturday night as they were able to see the Florida Gators knock off Utah 29-26.

Joining the 90,000 plus in attendance were over 100 prospects as they had a chance to witness the great crowd and Billy Napier’s first game and they all left impressed by the win.

GatorCountry spoke with dozens of prospects to get their reaction to the Florida Gators’ big win over Utah on Saturday night.

 

Recruiting reaction

Defensive line commit Kelby Collins- “The game was influenced by how the crowd was. I’m excited to play in front of 90,000 people every weekend.”

Defensive back Jordan Castell- “UF is home the fans showed me and the Family so much, I was ready to put my pads on and play.”

UCF defensive line commit John Walker- “The atmosphere was really loud.”

Florida State offensive line commit Roderick Kearney- “I had a great experience; I feel like the experience overall was really good.”

Offensive line commit Bryce Lovett- “It was crazy, it was a fun time to get back up here.”

Receiver commit Aidan Mizell- “Expected. Go Gators.”

Offensive line commit Knijeah Harris- “Go Gators!!!.”

Receiver commit Tyree Patterson- “It was a very intense game, the crowd was unbelievable but I had a great time seeing UF beat #7 Utah.”

2025 quarterback Colin Hurley- “Florida’s win is a very real statement as to where the Gators are headed under Coach Napier and his staff. The Swamp was electric, and the vibe was amazing.”

2025 receiver Koby Howard- “The atmosphere was fire all night long. I really love the way the guys kept fighting and never giving up and pulling out a hard-fought victory.”

2024 quarterback Jake Merklinger- “The game was crazy, the atmosphere in the Swamp was electric. It was a really good game which made it even better. The hospitality from the staff was great.”

2025 athlete Tarvos Alford II- “Definitely a big win. Shocked the world.”

2024 defensive back Brayshon Williams- “The best college game I’ve been to.”

2024 offensive lineman Jake Guarnera- “It was electric. The offensive line played great all night and the whole team competed from start to finish.”

2024 tight end Michael Smith- “The stadium, the atmosphere, and the energy, everything was just electrical.”

2025 running back Taevion Swint- “Last night was the best game I’ve ever been to!!! First night game in the Swamp. It was crazy loud.”
