The Florida Gators finalized the hiring of Tulane coach Jon Sumrall as the next coach to replace Billy Napier who was fired earlier this year.
Sumrall comes to Florida after successful stints at Troy and Tulane and is someone that’s known for building programs.
The Gators currently sit with 19 commits in their recruiting class and early signing day is on Wednesday so Sumrall will have to get to work with this class.
GatorCountry talked to several prospects to get their reaction on the hiring of Sumrall to Florida.
Defensive back commit CJ Hester- “I hope he can impact and change the program.”
Offensive line commit Chancellor Campbell- “I’m happy about the hire. Seems like a good person and is a winner.”
Offensive line commit Javarii Luckas-“Whatever gets the Gators back on top, I’m with it. Coach Sumrall looks like a culture guy and I’m ready to help build that.”
Defensive back commit CJ Bronaugh-“It’s exciting, I can’t wait to build a relationship and get up there.”
Defensive line commit Kendall Guervil-“Just knowing my coach has a little bit of a defensive background, I think we will be able connect a lot better, him being able to understand me more and my position.”
Defensive back commit Kaiden Hall- “I know Coach Sumrall, I’ve been hearing a lot about him. I know he’s a defensive coach, that would be really big, just have a big defensive guy, just keep building a defense, the defense is really good and will be legit.”
