Florida Gators recruiting mailbag: September 26th edition

The Florida Gators recruiting efforts have been going strong over the last month, as the Gators will take that momentum into the 2019 season.

Gator Country’s members have a lot of questions about how the 2020 class will shake out and who are the top prospects that the Gators are still after.

We answer your questions in this week’s Florida Gators recruiting mailbag.

Well let’s dive right in to this week’s recruiting mailbag:

UFMBA14: Has the ship sailed on being able to land a top 5 class? Seems like top 10 may be more realistic.

AS: Not completely gone but it looks like the class will be a top 10 class outside of the top five.

Photogatr: I’m still interested in the RB offers we have out there for the 2020 class. What’s our best case scenario as far as getting a running back recruit this year?

AS: Florida is going hard after Jamyr Gibbs and Henry Parrish after they offered both over the last few weeks. Best case scenario is that the Gators can land one of those guys.

Jump_pass: Are we just not looking at ILB this year?

AS: Right now it doesn’t look like they will land an inside linebacker but that could change.

Macbgator: Any new names that maybe added to the recruiting board that we have not heard About???

AS: UCF receiver commit Sam Brown, receiver Bryan Robinson and Tennessee offensive line commit James Robinson are all names that Florida is talking to that hasn’t been mentioned much. I do expect the board to expand a few positions as the fall continues and more senior tape gets out.

Swampie: Are most of the remaining targets four-star types (I Hope)? Are we going to get some strong OL prospects and any news on Wardrick Wilson and Deyaive Hammond?

AS: For the most part yes, but some guys that are having good senior years are three stars with the chance to move up to four stars. As far as Wilson goes, there’s a good chance he’s on campus in January to start the spring semester. Hammond is in JUCO and will have to remain there until next December.

G8trGr8t: What DT’s are on the board for 2020? How many do we expect to take?

AS: They have Gervon Dexter, Lamar Goods and Johnnie Brown already in the class and they’re very high on those three guys. Dexter is a guy that can play early for Florida next year. The coaching staff is just fine with those being the only three in the class but there’s a small chance they had a fourth one to the class.

Gatordadx2: seen a lot of chatter for Dumervil to LSWHO legit? or do we still have a shot and how do you see the OL class filling out?

AS: Dumervil really likes LSU but he also has interest in the Gators and as long as Florida can get him back on campus, I think Florida stays in the mix for him until the end. I think the Gators add Issiah Walker and one more guy and they would love for that guy to be Dumervil.

Burton92: Been hearing alot of chatter about Bryan Robinson and UF talking. And that he has cooled on fsu. I know he didnt end up coming to the tenn game but I’ve heard if we stay on him he will end up in this class. I know we get an ov. Do you think we can/will land him?

AS: Robinson has been talking to Florida a lot and he’s interested in the Gators but they need to get him on campus so he can meet with the coaching staff and get to know them better. I do think Florida has a chance here though.

Graylon: Do we still have a chance at Jaheim Bell? I really feel like he is a Kyle Pitts type

AS: Florida and Bell haven’t been talking as much as they were in the past. Right now I don’t see the two parties reuniting in Gainesvlle. Florida is going after Dee Beckwith to play that h-back role.

Gatorfantone247: Can you give us a percentage of our chances to keep Gervon dexter in this class? Can you do the same for avantae willams?

AS: I don’t exactly have a percentage chance but I think Florida keeps Dexter in the class. I say 80% or but I believe he stays with the Gators. Avantae Williams has visited Florida in the past and I think Florida has a decent shot at flipping him. The Gators need to get him back on campus.

Gatorfantone247: Is Gervon still recruiting heavy for Florida?

AS: Yes, Dexter is still recruiting players to Florida and he plans to be in town this weekend for the Towson game.

Gatorfantone247: Do you see any of Miami commits flipping to us? If so, who?

AS: Miami has a decent but Florida isn’t really heavy after any of the Canes commits at this time. That could change but right now I don’t see any flipping to Florida.
