Florida Gators recruiting mailbag: December 2nd edition

The Florida Gators are the number six in the country in the second playoff poll that came out on Tuesday and the Gators are seeing some positive reactions to that on the recruiting front.

This weekend the Gators will have prospect’s attention as they travel to take on Tennessee in a game that could clinch the SEC East for the Gators.

GatorCountry brings you a recruiting mailbag to answer your questions on the 2021 class as well as the 2022 class.

Check out the mailbag here to get all the answers to your questions.

OklahomaGator: How many spots do you see being left to fill after the December signing day?

AS: At this time, I believe two-three spots will be available for the February class, unless there’s a surprise decommitment or something along those lines. Signing day will be pretty uneventful for the Gators.

Dagatorfan: What is your feeling on Arnold, Sorey & Adeleye?

AS: Tunmise Adeleye is trending away from Florida and the Gators sit in third for him right now. Terrion Arnold and Xavian Sorey are both guys that right now I have penciled into the Gators class.

UFMB14: Assuming Iverson Clement transfers as expected, do we see that impact our available number this cycle or will it be something we see in the ’22 class?

AS: His scholarship will be available for the 2022 class, right now the biggest issue for the 2021 class is the NCAA still hasn’t decided how seniors returning to school will count against the scholarship limit. That’s a question coaches are asking daily.

Stan05: Is their any new prospects to keep an eye on for us until early signing day and the late signing day?

AS: Miami offensive line commit Laurence Seymour is a guy that isn’t talked about a lot but he still talks to the staff a lot but at this time I think he stays with Miami. Unless Florida just misses on their top guys like Xavian Sorey, Terrion Arnold and Bryce Langston then I don’t see any new names popping up.

Gator_n_Bmore: Still talking to Destyn Hill the WR out of LA? Also do you feel like Mario Williams sticks with Oklahoma? Basically my question is are we done at WR or would the staff take either of these guys (or anyone else) as a +1?

AS: Yes, Florida is still talking to Hill but right now, I don’t see him in Gainesville. Williams and Christian Leary are still talking to Florida as well but at this time I think both stick with their current commitments which leads me to believe that the staff is done at the position.

Shade45: Are the 2 DT commits likely to remain at DT vs OL?
Are we done @ the position?

AS: Yes, both Desmond Watson and Christopher Thomas stay at defensive tackle and right now it looks like the staff is done at the position for this class. A guy like Bryce Langston could play inside some if he commits to Florida.

Gatorgreg1: Do we know who the OL commits are that are on the borderline academically?

AS: Right now the two questions are Deyavie Hammond and Javonte Gardner and Gardner is doing all the things he needs to do in order to qualify. There’s still some questions on Hammond but right now he looks like he will be able to enroll in June with the Gators.

Acewade1: Will the staff go after Azareyeh Thomas from Niceville, Florida for the 2022 class?

AS: I know he’s someone that they’re monitoring and keeping on their radar but he’s a guy that I believe needs to camp this summer with the Gators.
