Florida Gators recruiting: A look at the top 2024 wide receiver targets

Billy Napier and his coaching staff have been in the process of offering prospects in the Class of 2024 and beyond during the dead period as they look to set their recruiting board for this year ahead of March visits.

The Gators 2024 class is already off to a great start as they have their leader of the class in quarterback DJ Lagway as well as commits from running back Chauncey Bowens and linebackers Adarius Hayes and Myles Graham.

GatorCountry is going to bring you a series that will look at the top prospects at each position in the 2024 class ahead of spring visits in March.

We started with the running back position, and we will now move out to the receiver position as the Gators look to load up at the position with Lagway at quarterback.

Receiver

The Florida Gators signed three receivers in the 2023 class, but they hope to add three to four in this class as the Gators continue to try and add as much talent as they can at the position. Quarterback commit DJ Lagway has been in contact with several of the guys listed below already.

Ohio State receiver commit Jeremiah Smith- The Chaminade Prep star is the top-ranked prospect in the state of Florida for the 24 class and the Gators are pushing hard here as multiple coaches and multiple commits are recruiting him. Smith committed to Ohio State earlier this year, but the receiver says he plans to visit Gainesville this spring where he wants to sit down with the staff. Lagway is also expected to be in town when Smith visits as the two have already started to build a connection. While it’s going to be tough to flip Smith, the Gators are going to do everything possible to flip him.

Receiver Micah Hudson- The Texas native picked up an offer from the Gators earlier this week and he has a connection with Lagway already. Hudson and Lagway play on the same 7-on-7 team so the relationship is already in place, but the Gators are now in the process of getting the receiver on campus. Alabama, Baylor, Texas, and Texas A&M are all in the mix for Hudson, but he doesn’t have any leaders currently.

Receiver Drelon Miller- Miller is another Texas native who plays on the same 7on-7 team as Lagway and he also has an early offer from the Gators. Miller was supposed to visit Gainesville in January but plans changed, and the visit is now expected to take place this spring. TCU and Texas A&M are heavily involved for Miller early on but he doesn’t have any leaders so a visit to Gainesville could get the Gators squarely in the mix here.

Receiver Chance Robinson- The St. Thomas Aquinas receiver has visited Gainesville several times already and he plans to return this spring. Robinson is good friends with Andy Jean and that could help the Gators as Alabama and Florida State are also heavily involved for his signature. The Gators have multiple coaches recruiting Robinson hard ahead of his visit to Gainesville.

Receiver James Randle- Randle is from Daytona Beach and was on campus in January and plans to return this spring for another visit with the coaching staff. Randle is a guy who worked out for Florida last summer and has impressed the staff since then as he had a really good fall season where he went for over 1,000 yards receiving. Randle has received a lot of interest from Florida State as well, but the Gators have gotten the receiver on campus more than anyone to date.
