Florida Gators official visitors preview for June 18th weekend

The Florida Gators have hosted 24 official visitors already this month and this weekend six more prospects will be in town.

While it’s lighter weekend of visitors, the importance of the weekend is still big as those four prospects visiting Gainesville are all high priorities for the staff.

GatorCountry brings you a preview of this weekend’s official visitors that will arrive in Gainesville on Friday.

Alabama athlete to visit

The Gators have had a lot of success recruiting Alabama prospects to Gainesville and they hope to continue that as linebacker Shemar James will be in Gainesville this weekend. The Mobile, Alabama prospect likes Christian Robinson a lot and has bonded with Chase Clark as the Gators continue to explain to James how he’s a perfect fit for the Gators. James likes Alabama and visited Tuscaloosa two weekends ago as the Mobile native wants to make a decision this summer. This weekend is big for the Gators as James’ family will want to make sure that the coaching staff will take care of the linebacker if he chooses Florida.

Instate speedster on campus again

Receiver CJ Smith visited Gainesville on June 1st for the cookout and will return this weekend following visits to Arkansas and South Carolina. Smith is one of the fastest players on the Gators board and is someone the coaches really want as they see him filling a similar role as Trevon Grimes did. This weekend the coaches will show Smith film of how he will be used, and this visit will go a long way in Smith’s recruitment.

Kicker coming to town

Kicker Alex McPherson was thought to be a solid lean to Florida last year when his brother Evan was in Gainesville but now it seems Auburn is the favorite for the Alabama kicker. McPherson is very familiar with the coaching staff but this weekend will be about getting McPherson’s questions answered and the staff hopes to get back in the driver’s seat in his recruitment.

Missouri defensive end to visit

Defensive end DJ Wesolak (6-3, 240, Boonville, MO. High) plans to make his first visit to Gainesville this weekend. Wesolak will be joined by his mom and little brother as the Gators look to impress the defensive end. Heading into the visit Clemson and USC are two teams talked about a lot for the Missouri native but he has spoken highly of the Gators in the past.

Transfer to visit

Texas A&M defensive back transfer Elijah Blades is a name that Florida fans are familiar with and he will be in town this weekend after leaving Texas A&M. Blades is very familiar with the Florida program after being committed to the Gators.

Running back to visit

Running back Terrance Gibbs is now visiting Florida this weekend instead of next weekend. Gibbs is one of the top targets for the Gators at running back and Florida is the team to beat for Gibbs heading into the visit.
