Florida Gators official visitors preview for January 24th weekend

The Florida Gators will host eight official visitors this weekend on campus, as this will be the biggest recruiting weekend for the Gators in the month of January.

The Gators will have one of their signees as well as a commit on campus to go along with the six other targets for the Gators.

GatorCountry brings you a Florida Gators recruiting visitors preview for this weekend’s visitors.

Offensive targets to visit

Headlining the weekend will be Penn State receiver transfer Justin Shorter who will be on campus for the second time in less than a month. Shorter visited campus during the dead period but wasn’t able to talk to anyone but this time he will be able to get the full tour of Gainesville. The Gators are the team to beat here and as of writing this they’re the only visit set up by Shorter who plans to enroll in the summer.

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been the Gators top running back target for a while now and he will make his second visit to Gainesville this weekend. Gibbs is committed to Georgia Tech and heading into the weekend it looks like the Yellow Jackets will keep Gibbs but the Gators will have their chance this weekend.

Joining Gibbs this weekend will be running back Ashaad Clayton who is committed to Colorado but doesn’t have a Florida offer yet. Clayton could easily pick up an offer from the Gators this weekend and that would put Florida in good shape for Clayton.

Tight end/athlete Dee Beckwith will also be in town this weekend and he has continued to name the Gators his leader despite just visiting Tennessee. Beckwith has been on campus before and this weekend is just another chance for him to get comfortable with the Gators. Florida wants to take Beckwith to pair him with Odom at the tight end position for 2020.

Defensive targets to visit

Safety Avantae Williams has been one of the Gators top targets all year and Florida will get a chance to seal the deal with him this weekend. Georgia and Miami are still in the mix for Williams but many people have the Gators with the lead heading into the week. Williams is a big target for the Gators at a position of need.

Defensive lineman Princely Umanmielen is the only defensive line target left on the board and the Gators suddenly look to be in good shape after Baylor lost its head coach. However Texas is back in the mix for Umanmielen and he could visit there next weekend but the Gators will have their shot this weekend.

Signee/commit coming to town

Signee Avery Helm played in the state championship all the way until the last weekend of visits in December so he will take his official visit to Florida this weekend after signing with the Gators in December. Helm is a guy that Florida thinks could play early next year in the secondary.

Safety/athlete commit Marc Britt will also be in town this weekend as several other schools are trying to flip Britt from Florida. Ole Miss and Miami are in the mix here as the Gators are facing a numbers crunch.
