Florida Gators official visitors preview: December 8th weekend

The Florida Gators will host official visitors on campus this weekend and it’s a big weekend for Billy Napier and his staff.

Napier and his staff will host several high school prospects on campus, plus they will host several guys who are in the transfer portal.

The Gators are in desperate need of some of veteran experience so getting a leg up with these transfers is a key for Napier and company.

GatorCountry brings you a visitors list preview for this weekend’s official visitors.

Transfers to visit Florida

The Gators will play host to four transfers this weekend including two of them on the defensive line where the staff needs to add depth.

Pittsburgh defensive line transfer DeAndre Jules plans to visit this weekend and he has one year of eligibility remaining. Jules is a 6-3, 310-pound defensive lineman that would be a big lift for the Gators on the interior of the line.

Penn defensive line transfer Joey Slackman is a hot name in the portal as several big schools offered him once he got in the portal as the lineman had a solid year. Slackman is another 300-pound lineman who could help the Gators.

Wisconsin receiver transfer Chimere Dike is another name that plans to visit this weekend. Dike is a former teammate of quarterback Graham Mertz and is a guy that the Gators like. The Gators are looking to add a receiver in the portal.

Oregon defensive back transfer Trikweze Bridges is from Alabama and has one year left and this weekend he plans to visit Florida. Bridges had interest in the Gators coming out of high school before heading out west. Bridges can play both safety and corner so that’s appealing to the Gators.

JUCO defensive lineman to visit

JUCO defensive lineman Brien Taylor was on campus for the Florida State game and will now take an official visit to Florida. Georgia is the team with the most buzz but Taylor had good reviews of his trip to Gainesville a few weeks ago. Taylor is a priority for the staff.

High School prospects to visit

One of the biggest names on campus this weekend will be Alabama defensive back commit Jameer Grimsley who has stayed in contact with the Gators despite his commitment to the Tide. This weekend Grimsley hopes to learn more about the Gators’ future defensive backs coach but the Gators have a tall task in front of them in hopes of flipping him.

Safety target Gregory Smith is a guy who had a great fall and shot up Florida’s board and he now plans to take an official visit after visiting campus several times. Florida is in good shape for Smith heading into his decision date.

Arkansas running back commit Jadan Baugh was on campus for an unofficial visit for the Arkansas game and he now returns for an official visit. Baugh likes Florida and now is a bigger target for the staff after Trevor Etienne entered the portal. Baugh has a good relationship with the Arkansas staff so flipping him is going to take some work but the Gators have some momentum here.

Florida offensive line commit Noel Portnjagin is sometimes a forgotten guy, but he will be on campus this weekend and he plans to move into school after his official visit this weekend. Portnjagin will participate in spring practice with the Gators in hopes of getting into the rotation next year.
