Florida Gators offer a “dream come true” for Robinson

Last week the Florida Gators offered several underclassmen while they were out on the recruiting.

One of those offers went out to 2020 defensive back Jahquez Robinson (6-2, 180, Jacksonville, FL. Sandalwood) who received a visit from the Gators coaching staff before he got the offer.

“Coach [Dan] Mullen and Coach [Torrian] Gray came down to my school on Friday,” Robinson said of the coaches from Florida. “After that I talked to Coach Gray over the phone and he offered me but he wants to get me on campus soon.”

Robinson who has picked up several big offers as of late says the offer from Florida is a big one to him.

“It means a lot,” Robinson said on what the offer means to him. “I’m a Florida kid so every Florida boy especially defensive backs want to be recruited by Florida. It’s a dream come true and I was very happy and excited and I really like Coach Gray.”

When Robinson spoke with defensive backs coach Torrian Gray on Friday, Gray explained to the 2020 prospect what he likes about his game.

“He said how he loved my film,” he said on Gray’s message to him. “He said how he wants to get to know me more and recruit me hard. He likes the way I move and stay square but we didn’t really get into much of that. He just was getting to know me and met me at school.”

Now that Robinson has picked up an offer from the Gators, the defensive back plans to visit Gainesville soon.

“I’m going to visit next weekend.” Robinson said on when he plans to visit Florida. “I’ve been there three times so I’ve kind of seen everything. My cousin Kavaris Harkless just graduated from there so I’m just looking to see how Coach Gray interacts with his players and how he coaches them.”

The Gators aren’t the only school recruiting Robinson hard as several other big schools are trying to land the defensive back.

“I would probably say LSU, Penn State, Georgia, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and Purdue,” he said on which schools are recruiting him the hardest. “Florida is definitely in the mix but Coach Gray just got there so I can’t really tell now.”
