Florida Gators make a move for Curry after his visit

The Florida Gators signed two running backs in the class of 2017 but they’re looking to add two more in the class of 2018 as they continue to add talent on the offensive side of the ball.

On Saturday, the Gators hosted one of their top targets at running back when Chris Curry (5-11, 200, Lehigh Acres, FL. Senior) visited and he says he had a great time in Gainesville.

“It was mind-blowing. I had a great experience and a great time,” Curry said on the Florida visit. “I got to meet with all the coaches and even the head coach. Really everybody. I liked the new academic building they have and that really stuck out because academics are big with me. I just enjoyed the whole day.”

Saturday was also the first time for Curry to meet new running backs coach JaJuan Seider and it didn’t take long for the two to click and find a mutual connection.

“I feel like I knew him for a long time on a personal level even though today was our first day meeting,” he said on meeting Seider for the first time. “He knew one of my former coaches that I really liked. Coach was a really cool dude to hang around with and I would love to have him coach me in the future. His first impression was very strong, real strong.”

The message from Seider and the rest of the Gators coaching staff was very straightforward and to the point when speaking with Curry.

“They said they aren’t afraid to play freshman,” Curry said on Florida’s message to him. “They have done that every year since that staff has been there. If you work hard they notice hard work.”

Despite struggling the last few years on offense, Curry sees the offense improving and he thinks he can help the offense even more if he was to choose Florida.

“I think they have a good offense,” he said on Florida’s offense. “ They need to continue to mature as a team and play together. I think I can take their offense to that national championship level. Winning the national Championship.”

This was the first visit to Florida for Curry and he left impressed by the Gators coaching staff and campus and Florida is now squarely in the mix for him.

“They definitely moved up definitely moved up,” Curry said on where Florida stands. “I didn’t know much about Florida heading into the visit and now I know. So they are in my top four or five right now. I am still working on making a top list but Florida will be on it.”

Curry says that he will try to get back up to Florida for a spring practice but he knows a few summer visits he wants to take.

“I am trying to get to Ohio State and Oregon sometime in the summer probably,” he said on other visits he may take. “Trying to get to some places far away.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Curry is one of the top backs in the state of Florida and heading into the visit Miami was thought to be the leader. After the visit, we’re told that things much closer and that Florida really impressed the running back.
