Florida Gators lead for offensive lineman Gainer

The Florida Gators are once again in a huge need for offensive linemen in the class of 2016 but the good news is that several top prospects are right in the state of Florida.

One of those top instate offensive linemen is offensive tackle Christion Gainer (6-5, 280, Panama City, FL Bay) who has been talking to offensive line coach Mike Summers a lot as of late.

“I’ve been talking to Florida a good bit since they offered me last month,” Gainer said. “I’ve been talking to the offensive line coach, coach Summers the most. I’ve talked to a couple of the other coaches too but he’s the main one.”

Summers has been keeping his message simple to Gainer but also letting the big man know that he’s a wanted man in Gainesville.

“He just wants me to come down to Florida for a spring practice and watch the team,” Gainer said. “He tells me that I will be a good fit at Florida at tackle. He has been telling me that Florida needs offensive linemen real bad and that I’m the guy he wants.”

Gainer hasn’t met any of the new coaches yet but he does like the personality that Summers has shown him over the phone.

“I like coach Summers a lot he’s a good coach,” Gainer said. “I can’t wait to meet him and the other coaches when I go down for spring practice. I want to see how he works with his players too.”

The Panama City native plans to meet Summers and the rest of the coaching staff in the coming weeks when he will make the trip down to Gainesville.

“I plan to visit Florida during my spring break,” Gainer said. “I want to see how hard the team works and how the coaches interact with them. I want to see the atmosphere there and also the campus and the facilities.”

When Gainer arrives on campus the Gators will already have a leg up in his recruitment but there is still a long time to go.

“Florida is my leader right now,” Gainer said. “I like how hard they are recruiting me and how much they have shown that they want me. I can’t wait to go down there and see everything for myself.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Gainer has become a top target for Florida and offensive line coach Mike Summers and that is something that Gainer has taken notice of. Gainer says that he doesn’t plan to make a decision until his senior year but the Gators are in good shape so far.
