On Saturday the Florida Gators hosted several prospects on campus but player in particular made news by visiting campus.
Quarterback Anthony Richardson (6-3, 230, Gainesville, FL. Eastside) visited the Gators for the first time since he decomitted but the visit on Saturday was a successful one.
“It was great, just being back out there,” Richardson said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “Just got to be around the coaches, just enjoying everything and watching practice. The energy of practice was great, I loved it. I love the vibe I get whenever I go there from everyone.”
Richardson said Saturday was no different from any other visit to Florida as far as the feeling he got once he arrived on campus.
“I always get the same feeling from Florida, they always make me feel like I’m at home,” he said on the feeling he got from Florida on Saturday. “They always make me feel like family, it’s always great being there.”
Head coach Dan Mullen and quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson both have been recruiting Richardson hard for over a year now and they’ve continued that despite him decommiting from Florida earlier this spring.
“The message has never changed, they’ve always known where my head was,” Richardson said on the message from Florida on Saturday. “I didn’t specifically talk to them the day that I decomitted but I talked to them before I did it so they kept it honest with me and told me how things were going to be and kept it real with me.”
Richardson made news on Saturday as he named a leader for the first time but it’s a leader that he has had for awhile now.
“Florida has always been my leader, I just haven’t told anyone besides my parents,” Richardson said of Florida. “I didn’t want anyone in my business but after talking with Coach Mullen and Coach [Brian] Johnson, they already know where my mind is. I just feel like it was time to tell the media that Florida was my leader.”
One big reason the Gators lead for Richardson is the way the quarterback fits into Florida’s offense under Dan Mullen.
“I’ve been watching Florida’s offense for awhile and I feel like I fit into well,” he said on he thinks he fits into Florida’s offense. “They basically run the same type of offense that we run at my high school now so I feel like if I get there then I fit in perfectly.”
Now that Richardson has visited Gainesville, the quarterback is now thinking about when he will announce a final decision and he knows who he will choose between.
“Possibly like May 22nd or around that time because that’s my birthday,” Richardson on when he wants to make a decision. “I’m going to choose between Florida, Penn State, Michigan and UCF.”
INSIDERS TAKE: Richardson said he may visit Penn State on April 25th and he may visit Michigan as well.
